How Do Reusable and Disposable SpO₂ Sensor Cables Differ?
Reusable SpO₂ sensor cable: a multi-use cable or sensor assembly whose construction and reprocessing conditions must match the finished device specification.
Disposable SpO₂ sensor cable: a project-defined single-patient cable or sensor assembly; disposable does not automatically mean sterile.
Sensor cable, patient cable or extension cable: these names can describe different parts of a pulse-oximetry connection. Confirm the required assembly before selecting a product.
Compatibility: the connector shape alone is not enough. The monitor model, SpO₂ technology, pin assignment, sensor interface and intended application must be verified together.
Compatibility notice: SpO₂ cables and sensors are not universally interchangeable. Provide the monitor manufacturer and exact model, compatible part number or existing sample, connector images, intended patient application, reusable or disposable requirement, cable length and available drawings before ordering.

What is a SpO₂ sensor cable?
A SpO₂ sensor cable is part of the connection used by compatible pulse-oximetry or patient-monitoring equipment to acquire an optical pulse signal. Depending on the system, the term may refer to a complete sensor assembly, patient cable, adapter or extension cable.
Are SpO₂ sensor cables universally compatible?
No. Compatibility depends on the monitor model, pulse-oximetry technology, connector, pin assignment, sensor interface and device-defined identification. A physically similar connector does not establish electrical or functional compatibility.
What is the difference between reusable and disposable SpO₂ cables?
Reusable assemblies are specified for a defined multi-use and reprocessing workflow. Disposable assemblies are specified for a defined single-patient workflow. The finished device manufacturer determines the validated use, cleaning, labeling and packaging requirements.
Does a disposable SpO₂ cable arrive sterile?
Not unless sterility is explicitly included in the approved product specification and supported by the required validated process and labeling. Disposable and sterile are different product attributes.
