What Are Medical Cable Connectors and Sockets?
A medical cable connector system forms a removable or fixed electrical interface between a cable assembly and compatible medical equipment, sensor, electrode or accessory.
The cable-side component may be a plug or overmolded connector, while the device-side component may be a socket, receptacle or PCB-mounted interface. “Medical connector” describes the application, not a universal performance class; electrical, mechanical, environmental and regulatory requirements must be defined for the finished device.

Connectors with similar dimensions may use different keying, contact assignments, shell grounding, identification components, mating tolerances or retention methods. Appearance, color or a third-party brand reference alone cannot confirm compatibility.
Provide the device model, mating connector part number, dimensional drawing, pinout, PCB or panel details, cable specification or physical sample for review.

What is the difference between a connector, plug, socket and receptacle?
A connector describes the complete mating interface. A plug is commonly the cable-side component, while a socket or receptacle is commonly mounted to equipment, a panel or a PCB. Project terminology may differ, so drawings and mating details should control the definition.
Are medical connectors universally interchangeable?
No. Dimensions, contact arrangement, keying, pinout, shell grounding, locking and tolerances must match the exact mating interface and device requirements.
Can JYCMED supply a connector without a cable?
Standalone plugs or sockets may be available for a defined project. JYCMED can also supply the connector integrated with cable, shielding, overmolding, strain relief and labels as a controlled assembly.
Can connector color, pinout, keying and housing be customized?
These elements can be developed or selected to an approved OEM specification, subject to tooling, materials, electrical requirements and the confirmed mating interface.
Does a connector used in medical equipment automatically comply with medical standards?
No. Compliance generally applies to a documented component, cable assembly or finished device under specified conditions. The applicable safety, EMC, biological and regulatory requirements must be defined and verified at project level.
