What Is an ECG Trunk Cable?
An ECG trunk cable, also called an ECG patient cable or ECG main cable, is the reusable monitor-side cable that connects a patient monitoring system to a detachable ECG leadwire set. It carries multiple ECG signal channels through a device-specific connector and pinout.
An ECG trunk cable is different from ECG leadwires. The trunk cable connects to the monitor, while the leadwires connect to the patient electrodes. Both components must use compatible connectors, pin assignments, lead configurations and color-coding requirements.
