Project Background

A Reusable EEG Connection Designed Around Long-Term Stability

A neuro-monitoring equipment manufacturer required a reusable EEG electrode and cable assembly for its intended monitoring configuration. Standard products did not consistently meet the project requirements for repeated connection, signal stability, electrode durability and cable identification.

JYCMED reviewed the electrode contact, connector sleeve, cable shielding, jacket material and color requirements as one integrated cable assembly rather than treating each component separately.

Technical Requirements

Four Requirements Driving the Custom EEG Cable Design

The project focused on measurable mechanical, electrical and material requirements rather than cosmetic customization alone.

01

Repeatable Connector Force

Maintain a stable connection after repeated insertion and removal during the intended reusable workflow.

02

Signal Stability

Reduce the effect of external electromagnetic interference on low-level EEG signal transmission.

03

Electrode Durability

Select electrode materials and surface treatment appropriate for repeated handling and cleaning requirements.

04

Channel Identification

Provide multiple cable-color options to support channel identification and OEM system matching.

Custom Solution

Electrode, Connector and Shielded Cable Developed as One Assembly

The final configuration combined the patient-side electrode, reusable connector interface and shielded leadwire construction within a controlled OEM design.

01

Gold-Plated Silver Electrode

The electrode disc used a silver base with gold plating to support conductivity and corrosion-resistance requirements for the intended reusable project.

  • Conductive metal electrode structure
  • Gold-plated contact surface
  • Smooth geometry for handling and cleaning

02

Stable Connector Sleeve

A brass-tube connector sleeve was selected to improve dimensional stability and reduce deformation during repeated connection cycles.

  • Project-specific interface dimensions
  • Controlled insertion and extraction force
  • Reinforced mechanical connection

03

Shielded EEG Leadwire

The cable incorporated a shielded construction to support stable low-level signal transmission in electrically noisy monitoring environments.

  • Integrated shielding structure
  • Flexible leadwire construction
  • Custom length and termination options

04

Color-Coded TPU Jacket

TPU jacket color options were evaluated for channel identification, device-system matching and private-label requirements.

  • Multiple identification colors
  • OEM color coordination
  • Flexible jacket construction

Sample Verification

Mechanical and Electrical Checks Before Customer Evaluation

The sample configuration was reviewed against the agreed project requirements before being submitted for customer-side evaluation.

  1. 01

    Interface confirmation

Electrode geometry, connector dimensions, cable length and color requirements were confirmed against the OEM specification.

  2. 02

    Mechanical evaluation

Connector fit and insertion-force consistency were checked through repeated connection handling.

  3. 03

    Electrical verification

Continuity and signal-transmission behavior were checked on the completed cable assembly.

  4. 04

    Customer sample review

The customer evaluated the samples within its intended equipment and project configuration.

Project Outcome

A Repeatable EEG Cable Configuration for the OEM Project

The customer accepted the sample configuration for the intended reusable monitoring project. The agreed assembly definition provided a controlled basis for subsequent production planning and documentation.

Buyer Questions

Custom Reusable EEG Cable FAQs

Which parts of a reusable EEG cable assembly can be customized?

Electrode geometry, contact material, connector interface, cable shielding, jacket material, color, length, strain relief, labeling and packaging can be reviewed for an OEM project.

Why use shielding in an EEG leadwire?

EEG signals are low level and can be affected by surrounding electrical noise. A project-specific shielded cable construction can help reduce external electromagnetic interference when correctly integrated with the device and grounding design.

Are gold-plated reusable EEG electrodes available?

Gold-plated electrode options can be evaluated according to the required electrode geometry, contact structure, cleaning method, expected reuse conditions and project specification.

What information is needed to evaluate a custom EEG cable project?

Provide the device interface, electrode type, connector dimensions or sample, pinout, cable length, shielding requirement, expected quantity and applicable mechanical or electrical tests.
